teacher assaulted my son(student)

my son's art teacher threw a chair in the classroom and it hit my son and caused injury to my son's head,teacher ran out of class in panic mode and start hitting the wall and screaming, and since then has not returned to school. the principle called and told me what happen also the nurse.i have contacted the school and no responce. i have also filed an police report against the teacher, which the police also have taken statements which i have not seen. i am in need of how to handle this. i have taken my son to the hospital and he is still complaing of nausa, headaches and feeling of faint(dizzeness)..i do feel that the school should compensate for for this , because this is causing me stress and worry that my son may go to sleep or may get hit and die. please help....

In Texas, schools are generally only liable for motor vehicle accidents..in this case, the teacher may be responsible..but whoever is responsible would only pay you for medical expenses incurred..and whatever is paid your son for pain, menal anguish, etc..goes to him..less whatever a lawyer may charge...You were not a bystander and hence, no recovery for you or your wife..good luck
