Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Texas

Teen needs some legal help.

I am 17 and had been helping a friend out by paying a rent bill for him for a few months with the knowledge that it was a loan that he would pay back as soon as he was financially stable and he has not paid any of the loan back ... I need to know at 17 can I legally take him to civil court for re-payment?

Re: Teen needs some legal help.

Minors are not responsible for contracts they enter into.

So you would have a difficult time because the law is on his side.

However, there is an exception to this if the minor enters into contracts for items such as food and shelter. But, you have to overcome the fact that he is a minor and prove that the shelter you provided him was essential.

If you have any further questions feel free to contact me.
