Legal Question in Technology Law in Texas
is a cable descrabbler llegal, if you inform the company that's providing the signal , before you start descrabbling??

I understand this question to ask if what would otherwise be theft of cable or satellite programming services or the like somehow becomes legal if you let the signal provider (by which I do not know if you mean the cable company, Dish, DirectTV, ATT, etc or mean the actual signal providers like HBO, Warner Brothers, Sony Pictures, Showtime, Cinemax, FoxSports, or the like) know you are descrambling. Authority to steal is not provided by merely notifying the victim you are stealing. Would you really think that stealing money from a bank is okay if you inform the bank that has the money? Theft is theft whether you tell someone you are stealing from them or not.
