Legal Question in Technology Law in Texas

Email privacy

My wife recently changed jobs. On her last day at her old job, her boss sat down at her computer while she was away at lunch and opened her email. She printed the offer letter from her new employer and made copies and posted them around the building. There was a disclaimer at the bottom of the email saying that this was private and intended only for my wife. Did her boss break any laws by doing this?

Re: Email privacy

Generally, an employer has the right to everything on a work computer. But you might have a tort claim because the employer posted that private information around the building for all to see. Employers do not have a free hand to display personal information of their employees. So you should go over all the facts with an attorney, and remember that your can lose your rights and claims if you don't act now; the law is always against the person that doesn't care enough to act in a timely fashion to protect themselves.
