Interet Slander
On a message board that is related to my work a slanderous posting has been left about me. This has happened several times. They don't leave a name and no ISP is provided. What can I do to find the sender of these messages?

Re: Interet Slander
You can file a lawsuit against a "fictitiously named" defendant,
i.e., against "John Doe". You can then serve a subpoena against the internet
service provider that hosts the web site to damand that they provide access to their system to discover
the information encoded to reveal the computer from which the message was posted.
To do so, you will need to have an expert in computer forensics to study the data and retrieve the information you seek.
Really good experts in this area also can help you in writing the exact specifications of the subpoena
to serve on the host service provider. You will probably need to hire an experienced lawyer to do this -- is is highly technical
and beyond the practical capabilities of most laymen.
