Legal Question in Technology Law in Texas
Internet harassment/defamation
I am being harassed indirectly online. problem: I cannot directly prove the person whom I know it is, is actually the guilty one. She has created fake email accounts in which to conduct her activities.
Most recent:
Sending emails to all of my online email contacts, with personal information about me that she has obtained from public data sites (the kind you can find out anything on anyone.) In these emails she has also taken bits of truth and woven lies around them. All done in an attempt to discredit me.
This person has also repeatedly posted this info on my guestbook, so much that I have had to remove it.
Also, my YAHOO auctions account (my income source) has been repeatedly attempted to be accessed, requesting password changes constantly, (which yahoo emails me, this is how I know.)
AOL has sent me only form letter responses for any complaints I have, (I had some IP addresses from posts in my guestbook).
I desperately need to get this handled NOW. Since nothing is being sent to me directly, I don't have much to go on to prove who it is. But I KNOW exactly who it is. Can someone please point me in the right direction? This is ruining my life.

Re: Internet harassment/defamation
You should call the District Atttorney in your area. Better yet hire a lawyer who already knows the DA and have that person make the call. Someone will have to convince the DA that investigating this will be worth the effort. The DA's office may be interested to gain expertise in this area.
Best wishes
