Legal Question in Technology Law in Texas
So there is a kid who goes by the name of Eric Douglace, who claims to be an expert hacker and will hack whoever hates Justin Bieber. He has hacked one YouTuber by the username of LifeInATent, and he has admited to this in a web chat last night, along with saying he will hack his FaceBook account. Eric has already hacked LifeInATent's website page, along with threatening to hack other people. He then proceeds to play as if he is the one being bullied. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4v9tfSCaHg The video I have just linked you to is the first video that Eric has posted. He claims to be a fourteen year old boy who I believe to live in Canada, so says his YouTube profile page, but I have heard him to be from NJ or FL. If there is any legal action that I, OutBackZack or LifeInATent could take, what would it be? Would we be able to sue?

Yes and Yes, although suit is economically out of the question for you. It would likely take over a $100,000 (probably way over) to do that. What you can do is hire a professional internet security expert to put safeguards in place to thwart the hacker. For example call Symantech and discuss your situation. You can make the hacker's job difficult enough the hacker will probably move on to another target. It is a matter of how much time and money you are willing to spend. What hackers have going for them is lots of time, usually, and a network of other similarly minded hackers. You, on your own, will never defeat a determined expert hacker.
