Legal Question in Technology Law in Texas

online libel and responcabilty of website owner

I have a website that allows people to post whatever they want. Right now I have about 80 posters. The purpose of the website is gathering of Mastiff Fanciers and Breeders. Some of the comments are objected to by other dog breeders and fanciers. As the provider of the soapbox am I shielded from liability for the posted comments on my website made by a third-party? The main arguments being advance at this time by the person threaten to sue is because I have taken down posts that makes me an editor of sorts for the one I let stay up and as such I am libel for the content.
