Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Texas
Civil laws protecting minors
On Oct.19,2003 my daughter was assaulted by 7 adults that were members of a Jr. Colledge basketball team on the Jr. College campus. My daughter at the time was 17, she was carried by ambulance to a nearby hospital by direct orders of campus security and promised that all bills would be paid by the Jr. College witnessed by friends. I was not contacted at all by anyone of the incident, I found out about a week later from my son. My daughter filed charges against her assailants and her case was heard by the Grand Jury under the assumtion that she was 18. My daughter had no representation at all due to the facts as parents we were not contacted by the county or Jr. college and also the assumtion that she was an adult. The Jr. college has since dissregarded the incident and indicated they have no legal or monitary responsability in the matter. What can I do to resolve this?

Re: Civil laws protecting minors
She may have grounds to file a civil suit against her attackers and the college, and perhaps other individuals or entities. You and she should explore this with an attorney.
