Drug Paraphenalia Manufacture?

I have an extremely innovative and original idea for mj smokers. It is such a good idea that I may patent the concept. However, I hear conflicting info regarding paraphenalia sales in US since Ashcroft's Pipe Dreams and Tommy Chong bust. I was told by an attorney friend that the best way to protect your enterprise is to make the home address in Canada, UK etc. He said you can manufacture a pipe/bong product in U.S. and ship from U.S. (fullfillment) but that the home address should be Canada, UK etc.

Is this true?!!! Would I really need to go to such measures to produce a pipe product in U.S.???

The manufacture and distribution of drug paraphernalia is contrary to federal law in the United States. There are no exceptions. One who operates in violation of federal law is always liable for federal prosecution. If you break the law you may be prosecuted. Having an out-of-country address will not protect you.
