i was told if i remained silent i would be arrested iask ed for an attorney iwas told my wife would also be arrested andcps would get the kids i confessed

This sounds like a Miranda violation, though I can't be sure without more facts. Specifically, I would need to know how you asked for an attorney and more about the surrounding circumstances.

Even if this was a violation the government can still prosecute you, but it will have to do so without using your confession against you.

You need to consult with a defense attorney ASAP.
