Legal Question in Constitutional Law in Texas

stuck 19-year-old

i am 19 years old, and am home for the summer. my mother constantly goes through my things, and i have absolutely no privacy. she has cut all communication with my boyfriend and pretty much all of my other friends, and has complete control over me. i want to move out of my house. the only reason i am staying so far is because of the fact that my parents are paying for my college, a expensive private university, where even there they try to control my every move. i am willing to work as hard as i need to and pay my own way through school.if i make the monumental decision to move out of the house and strike out on my own, is there legally anything they can do to stop me?

Re: stuck 19-year-old

No. You are a stand-alone adult entity for most purposes [not including alcohol], you have free will, you live in a country which respects individual rights and responsibilties, and you have a right to self-determination as we all do.

Whether it is a wise thing you will have to decide; it is a legal thing, however, and you are free to go when you decide to do so.
