Legal Question in Construction Law in Texas
How can I build a home and not get sued if a subcontractor gets injured?
I am in the process of building a home being my own General Contractor, I will hire a manager to handle all the logistics. Virtually none of the subs that work in this area carry workmans comp Ins, so my question is... how can I pull this off without getting sued if someone gets hurt on my land? I own the land outright and will finance the project personally. Was thinking of forming an LLC as the general contractor to limit my liability, but can I not be sued personally as the property owner? And if so, how can I protect myself? A general liability insurance policy is simply not cost effective.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Insurance would be less expensive than forming an LLC.
