Legal Question in Construction Law in Texas
I had a contractor do some work on my kitchen cabinets. He sanded and stained, but he took the doors to his house for spraying. He came back to put some molding on, but he did not bring the doors. He is complaining how he is getting screwed by the guy that referred him the job. It cost us $1200, but we bought the material. Material alone is up to $1000. At this point we have fronted him $900. He keeps delaying about finishing the job. He still has some crown molding and the doors to put back on with the hardware(knobs and handles..which we have at home).....im afraid he is not going to come back? if he keeps the doors is that considered theft? I think the work left may be more than the $300 owed in his mind?

I would go to the DA. Do not threaten him with going to the DQA, just go.
