Legal Question in Construction Law in Texas
getting sued and not payed
Yes, I recently did a job for a homeowner who has been happy with the work untill the finall payment was due. A verbal contract and bid was all that was given (my mistake). The bid never changed. Now the home owner is threating to sue for all cost, material ect. and refusing to pay the bill not to mention threating to slander my name all over town. I understand I can put a lein on his home. But was wondering what can I do or should I do? Thank you

Re: getting sued and not payed
You can't put a lien on his home because your contract doesn't satisfy the requirements under the Property Code to put a lien on a homestead. You'll just have to sue him for the unpaid balance.
