Water heater flooded house
I was working at a retail store and a customer asked me to install a water heater, I did, and he bought the water heater from retailer. I told him that the permit fees and inspection of the water heater was his. I installed the water heater in feb 2003, now in oct 2 2003 his insurance company informed me that I may be responsible for damages 9 months later, the report said that the water pressure was to high, and the temp was to high. also the relief valve was put inside a outside outlet of plastic were his old one was hooked up to. Over 100 gal. of water discharged. He knew I was not licened, and never pulled the permit.

You may be held responsible. If you do a task you are not competent to do, then any errors that result in damages, caused by your negligence, become your liability.
If you don't really know what you're doing, don't do it!
