Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
Auto Mechanic Sold OUr Car
My husband put a vehicle in the shop
which is titled in both of our names.
The car will not pass emmissions
inspection so we needed to have it
towed back to our home as the
mechanic was unable to make that
repair. My husband has been
traveling several weeks for business
and has left the car at the shop for
longer than ideal. He called the shop
owner today to make arrangements
to pick up the car. The owner told
him he had placed a lien on the car
and had it sold! Is this legal? What
are our legal options? The car is
worth far more than the $400.00 in
repairs he made.

Re: Auto Mechanic Sold OUr Car
You're supposed to get notice before it can be sold. Are you sure you didn't get a certified letter from the shop? If you're really, really sure you did not receive a letter, contact me by email.
