Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas

Boat Slip Lease

10 years ago, I signed a lease on a sail boat slip. The lease automatically renewed year to year. The sail boat I had sold in late March, just after the contract renewed. The contrat states that I must give them 30 days notice before the end of the renewal date, unfortunatelately, that put me into the new year. The claim I must now pay for a full year. I can't sublease the slip (per the contract), but they can and I can get my money back. Unfortunately, they just built new slips which they can lease giving them no incentive to release mine, because I'm still on the hook for it. How can I get out of this lease.

Re: Boat Slip Lease

It sounds as if you have reviewed the contract, and have not found any relief for you. Depending upon the cost of the slip for the next 9 months, it might be worth your cost to let an attorney review the contract to see if there is another legal alternative.
