Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
I bought a lemon
I bought a car from a neighbor. He said he took it from his granddaughter because it was too fast. 48 hours later, it is apparent that the car is a lemon. We have no contract and no receipt. What should I do to try to have my money returned?

Re: I bought a lemon
You can always ask. Bear in mind that when you buy a used car you buy it "as is, where is" unless you have a written warranty. The "Lemon Law" only applies to the purchase of a new vehicle, and not a second-hand vehicle.
You will need to get good title to the car before you can sell it or trade it in. Your neighbor may not have had the legal authority to seize and sell his granddaughter's car.
In the meantime make sure you have insurance on the car, just in case.
