Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
Breaking a fitness club contract
We signed two contracts with a local Taekwondo facility for our two children, ages 14 & 11, to participate. These are three year contracts. The 14 year old has been involved for 2.5 years; the 11 year old for just 5 months.
Neither child wants to attend anymore and we are finding it difficult to make the monthly $300 payment.
The oldest child's contract allows for cancellation only if medically unable to participate or if we move away (40 miles). The younger one's contract only describes a right to cancel within 3 days of signing the contract.
Does Texas provide any means for me to pay a cancellation fee and get out of a long term commitment like this?

Re: Breaking a fitness club contract
There is no TX law that requires a cancellation fee. That can be, but does not have to be, a term in the contract. You might be able to negotiate a buy-out with the taekwando operator.
