Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
out of business
I had my foundation repaired by a contractor that cannot be located and it
seems is out of business. At the time of the repairs, he gave me a lifetime
warrranty on the repairs. I have the house for sale, the inspector for
perspective buyers says repairs need to be redone. Since I cannot find the
contractor, what is my recourse?

Re: out of business
Unfortunately, a 'lifetime warranty' is only as good as the lifetime of the warrantor.
Unless you can locate the business, assuming it's still in business, you'll either have to pay to have the work re-done, or adjust the purchase price so that the buyer can get it re-done (assuming the lender will go along with that deal).
Re: out of business
Sadly enough, you are probably out of luck on this. If the warranty was from a 'noncorporate' business, and you can locate the individual, then you may still be able to enforce the warranty against the individual. Otherwise, it appears that you will have to absorb the cost of the repair. TCL
