Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
Car purchase
I purchased a new car on 1/6/05 trading in my old car. After waiting for approval of credit and being told I was approved, I signed the contract and drove off with the new car. On 1/22/05 I received a letter stating my purchase was not approved. Can they take back the new car at this point?

Re: Car purchase
A lot more information is needed before a clear answer can be given. If you have a signed contract, you probably have an enforceable deal. Assuming that you did not sign a conditional sale type agreement or spot delivery agreement.
Re: Car purchase
You'd have to read your contract very carefully, but they probably can. It's a wide-spread scam in the industry called "dehorseing". Please report it to your local Consumer Fraud division of the Attorney General's office.
