Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
Can a collection agency potentially keep an old debt alive years after the original creditor deemed it uncollectable thus in essence keep screwing up my credit indefinately and if so what can i do . i had a collection show up on my credit report in february on a debt is at least 11 years old.

The statute of limitations on debts is four years. The four years dates from the time the creditor knew or should have known that you weren't going to pay it (this is, basically, the date you last made a partial payment).
It is illegal for a creditor to report a debt that is 11 years old, except in certain circumstances. You need to write to your credit bureaus.
