Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
contracts
A travel club talked me & hubby into a ''membership'' on 4/22/08. The next day I mailed a letter of cancellation. (I had 3 days to cancel). However the company called me and said there was a $299 ''restocking'' fee as well as a cancellation fee of 15% of total price, leaving me owing over $1000. The rep ended up telling me he could not cancel our membership by talking to me and he needed to talk to my husband. He talked my husband into signing another deal for $2000 (which he signed) - since he would just pay $1000 more and actually get something, rather than pay $1000 just to cancel. Are we obligated here? Just today (5/8/08) we received access to their website and membership prices, which we feel are fraudulent. They are not at all as promised.
