Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas

I co-signed on a car for my live-in friend, who has stopped making payments and Wells Fargo is making threats about coming after me, can I file auto theft charges against this person or can the auto company file any kind of criminal charges against me and make me pay for the car?

If you co-signed the loan, then what happened that would justify you (or the company) filing criminal charges? What crime has been committed?

If you co-signed, you're on the hook for the debt, and Wells Fargo can sue you.

Think of it as a lesson learned: never co-sign on a debt.
