Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas

craig'slist purchase

Hi

i went to look at a leather furniture set from someone that advertised on craig's list. when i went to look at it i out a deposit. the set is $1100. i put down $200. i didn't want to give all the money until i found a mover.

a situation came up and i can no longer buy the item. the person say my deposit was ''nonrefundable''. craig's list is a free service and they can list again. they would not have trouble selling the item. actually they had the product up on 13april then put it up again 17april. that is when i went to look at it.

are they correct in keeping the money? i realise that i have incovienced them. but isn't this a litt;e much?

Re: craig'slist purchase

I agree that their behavior is insulting and wrong, but I doubt if you have any recourse. The cost of suing them will probably exceed your deposit. You might be better off chalking it up to 'life experience'.
