My new husband has some old debt from a previous marriage. Will I be able to change my name without debtors having access to our property, etc?

Re: Old Debt, New Marriage
creditors of one spouse do not have rights to property of other unless both are liable....so your community property should not be in danger..but see a lawyer for more details

They do not have access to your separate property for his debt. But they will have access to non-exempt community property because his debt becomes a community debt upon marriage.
