Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
deceptive trade?
Bought motor for a car over the internet. Seller claimed motor checked out. Motor shipped from Houston to Fort Worth, a stipulated garage where motor would be installed. After installation mechanic unable to get motor to run after three (3) weeks of attempts. I need to know my rights and procedure to exercise them. Also, I have paid the mechanic $500 for the installation for a motor that won't run-will the seller be held responsible for those expenses as his motor was bought in good faith that it would perform? If there is an actionable cause... how to find legal representation on such contingency?

Re: deceptive trade?
Was it a short block, or a full engine with all accessories? Why won't it run? Is it the engine's fault, an accessory fault, or the mechanic's fault?
Are the total costs under $5,000? If so, you can take action in Small Claims and you don't need a lawyer.
