Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
Diamond Misrepresentation
My husband purchased an engagement rind for me approximately 6 years ago. He paid around $4000 and was given an appraisal for $9400. We recently tried to sell the ring and was informed that the diamond had laser enhancements to improve its clarity rating, therefore drastically reducing its value. He was never informed of this and it is not included in the appraisal. One jeweler told us that it is against the law to sell a laser enhanced stone without informing the consumer in writing. What, if any, legal steps can be taken?

The first thing you need to do is contact an atorney for an appointment. Make sure you bring all paperwork concerning the transaction.
Re: Diamond Misrepresentation
You may have a claim under the Deceptive Trade Practices Act. Due to the amount of the claim, you would file suit in either District or County Court. I recommend that you contact an attorney in your area that is familiar with the DTPA and practices consumer law.
