Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
Filing a small claims court suit against a company
I am going to file a small claims court suit against a company and I need to know how to find the name of the company. I believe they are part of a corporation and need to know how to find out the legal name and whom to file against. For example, a car dealership named John Doe's Cars but the dealership is actually owned by a corporation and not one person, I think. How do I go about of finding out the legal name and which name & address would I file the suit against.

Re: Filing a small claims court suit against a company
First check the county assumed name records. Then check with the Texas Secretary of State.
The first notice and demand goes to the business, at its business address, by certified mail, return receipt requested. The lawsuit gets served on the owner or the owner's registered agent.
