Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
Invalid Contract
I signed a 2-year contract with a tanning salon for a membership. I lied about my age and said that I was 18. They didn't ask for my ID. I tried to cancel this contract due to the fact that there is false information on it, I wasn't of legal age, and it is illegal to let a minor tan without parental consent. They told me that the contract was stillbinding because I signed it. I was wondering if this was true or if there was anything I could do to get out of this contract?

Re: Invalid Contract
In Texas, although contracts with minors are voidable at the minor's election, a minor may not void a contract if she obtained it by fraudulent misrepresentation intended to induce the other party to believe she was atleast 18 yrs old.
