lost suit at dry cleaners
my dry cleaner in austin, texas lost my suit two months ago. the suit brand new is $475. I bought it in September 2006. after 1 month, they sent me a check for $200. I rejected it and demanded $475. after another month, they offered $237. can I sue for $475?

You can sue, but you are unlikely to recover the cost of the suit new. These cases rarely provide replacement cost. Normally the law requires that you be placed in the same position you were in before the negligence, and that is as the owner of a one and a half year old suit. Considering the depreciation of clothing, you are probably lucky to get the $237 without the cost of a lawsuit.
