Mechanic Lein???
I live in Tx and I own a 1980 Camero. I was having it worked on by a mechanic when he got into some trouble and could not pay his rent on the shop. Now the owner of the shop is trying to charge me $350.00 to pick up my car. I thought a lein was only for those assets that the mechanic owns. Since I have the title to the car should'nt my property be exempt form the lein. Even if the car is temporarly in the shop that dosent transfer ownership to the mechanic right?

The owner of the repair shop may have an interest in your car if the mechanic was moonlighting with the shop's equipment. However, if you mean the landlord for the property where the shop is located, then the landlord is in the wrong to hold your car unless the mechanic has assigned his rights to the landlord.
The lien is a garageman's lien. A mechanic's lien attaches to real estate.
