Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
Mechanical repair
I brought a boat in to have a motor repaired and the repair shop botched the job but still charged me a substantial fee. I paid by check and later found out they tore my boat up. I stopped payment on the check. Is this legal for me to do

Re: Mechanical repair
No it is not. Your recourse is to sue the repair shop. The stop payment may or may not result in a criminal charge of theft. Your boat may also be repossessed as a result. You need to get a better resolution to this problem, and probably need to get a lawyer.
