Moving out of area, gym wants $300 to cancell
I have been a member of a gym since april , and have a contract. My contract that states that i have to pay a certain amount per month and 299$ to cancell until i reach a goal weight/ body fat % that was set by the trainer. I am moving, and there is no way that I could ever reach that goal in time. So to cancell,they want $299, or the'll report on my credit. Is there a law or rule in TEXAS about opened ended contracts or something that protects consumers if they move. There are no gyms in the area that I'm moving to. Please let me know what I can do. ~ thanks! A.G.

You're on the hook for $299 according to the contract terms you signed. If there was some other way out, it would be written into the contract.
