Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
Payoff not verified prior to contract
I signed a contract to buy a car on April 28. On May 5 the dealership called and said my payoff was 1900.00 more than was put on my contract. They admit to not verifing the payoff amount. They want me to come up with difference. I cannot. I asked for my trade-in back but was told it had been sold to a wholesaler. My current note on my old car has not been paid and the monthly pymt is being deducted from account. I feel they should cover that cost since they did not verify the information. All contracts have been signed. Advise?

Re: Payoff not verified prior to contract
Take the contract to a lawyer...these are not easy cases but if your accountant and lawyer agree you may have a good case against the dealer..
