Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
Purchasing a car from a seller who is still making payments
I am interested in purchasing a vehicle from someone who currently has their car financed through a dealership. The remaining balance for the car is what I'd like to pay in cash. I was told however, that the bank will send the title to the seller in his name, once the car has been paid off in full and that it could not be made out to anyone else's name. How can I be sure that I will be receiving the title once I've paid off this person's remaining balance on the vehicle? Thanks.

Re: Purchasing a car from a seller who is still making payments
It's a multi-step process, and somewhat complicated. The main thing is that you don't simply pay off the note and hope to get the car and title.
Speak with a consignment agent or dealership to see if they'll explain all the steps and required documents to you.
