Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
Question: I went to my car dealership to get a part installed on my car. They ordered the wrong part twice. Third time they got it right and installed it. At pick up the service manager said there would be no charge (approx $700). I left, but called back the same day and asked if he was sure that there was no charge, to which he responded "no" because of the hassle that I endured.
My receipt shows the part and service with "n/c" and total due "$0".
Now, almost 3 weeks later they have contacted me saying that the comp was an administrative error and that I need to pay.
Do they have a right to collect on this? Even when I have a receipt saying "no charge"? Even 3 weeks after the sale?

No, and I believe you should fight any effort to collect it. They verified that it was not a clerical error, but that they deliberately comped the work in order to retain a valuable customer. It is reasonable that after the hassles you went through, caused by their repeated errors, they would want you to leave with good feelings about the business.
