Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas

What are my rights as a car purshaser

In Feb.'09, went online to search for a veh. found one at a local car lot and purchased veh. The ad stated that a standard warranty came with all veh. The warr. is through a sep. comp. which offered a loaner car and a could take my veh. to a cert. mech. of my choice, if veh. ever need wrk done to it. The salesman that sold us the veh. failed to sub. nec. paperwrk and we now have no warranty. My veh. needs work and we are still covered on what would have been a warr. I contacted the lot and now they wnt me to bring in my veh. and have wrk done there by their mech. I of course will not have any trans. for a week or so, and they won't even pay for a rental or give me a loaner. I'm worried about the wrk they will do, or if they will do any at all. I feel as I got the raw end of the deal because of the neg. of a salesmn to sub. pprwrk. I signed a letter of arbitration, and feel as If my hands are tied. What are my rights, or do I have any at all? Can they do this and get away with it? The woman I spoke to says if was a cash sale and was suppose to be ''as is'', but because the slsmn included on the pprwrk that the veh. had the warr. and signed it they are willing to do nec. repairs that would have been covered by the warr. orig.

You have several choices. Let them do the repairs, rent a car and sue (arbitrate) for the rental fees. Have the work done somewhere else and arbitrate for the costs incurred. File a complaint with the DOT dealer division that you suspect fraud on the part of the dealer. Sue the dealer for the full value of the warranty.
