Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
Ripped off by Concrete Company
In June 2005 I had a new concerte porch laid in October 2005 I called the company back out for the porch cracked all over the place, in August 2006 I called back and complained about the cracks, so the persont that installed the porch came out filled in the cracks and put a concrete overlay on top of the cracks and existing porch, what an ugly mess. He told me he would do what ever it took to satisfy my, from removing the porch, re laying a new porch, or give me 1/2 of what I paid back or do other concrete work for us at no charge, well we went with the other concrete work then man was to come back yesterday and never calle or showed up, what can we do. We ahve the reciept (cancelled check) he did not give us a bill of services rendered nor an itemized bill. I cannot locate the company in the phone book buut I do have all 3 cell phone numbers that they ahve listed. I found this company in our local paper in the yellow page section that the paper runs, they will not give me the address of this company. Is there anything I can do to recoup my money on a botched up job or am I sunk? I paid $3.300.00 for the job and was asking back $1,650.00 which is half please help

Re: Ripped off by Concrete Company
You can report the company, and the individual to AG consumer division, and to the BBB.
You can sue them --
None of this however, will do you any good if you cannot locate the company and thus its assets. Practically speaking, if there is no more 'company', then you are better off continuing to try to locate the individual with the cell phone numbers. Appeal to his sense of fair play - so that he can come out to the house to either repair the damage, make a new porch, refund your money, or get served with your lawsuit.
