Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas

Theft of Title

We purchased 2 late-model luxury

vehicles from a dealership (in business

for 16 yrs). For the purchased we

traded in 2 vehicles and used cash and

financing for the balance.

The dealership never transferred title on

the new vehicles as he never paid off

the bank who did their floor planning.

And he never paid off one of the traded

in cars and has sold it even though we

still own it with our financing company

holding a lien. Since then the

dealership closed doors and owner fled

the country.

Anyone heard of these types of

situations and likely outcomes? What

about filing a theft of title claim on our

auto insurance?

Thanks.

Re: Theft of Title

This is a very complicated situation. You definitely need to hire an experienced autofraud attorney. You can sue the dealer and make a claim on the dealer's bond. There may also be something that the finance company can do about the title.
