Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
Travel/Vacation Fraud
Hi,
Thanks in advance for your advice. I was victim of a discount travel to Orlando, FL that never materialized
This is how that happened: my wife was listening to the radio one day and the radio station was advertising ''free vacation packages'' to Orlando. My wife called and she supposedly won the prize. She called the company in FL and had to pay some ''administrative fees'' in order to get a 5 start hotel, free tickets to Disney Parks, etc. Part of the deal was to attend a 90-minute meeting in a Resort facility. After reserving our vacations months in advance, we received a confirmation via fax to a 4 star Hotel (Florida Mall & Convention Center). One day before our departure to FL, my wife call the Hotel to let them know that we would arrive late at night next day. The Hotel rep indicated that our reservation had been cancelled because it was never paid. I called the vacations company: All Star Vacations and Celebrity Resort, which is working in combination with the other and they gave me all type of excuses. The offered my a Sleep Inn hotel after we paid the fees for a 5 star hotel. They never provided us with the package and I had to find and pay another place to stay causing all kind of problems and extra expenses.

Re: Travel/Vacation Fraud
You have a breach of contract claim limited to the dollar value of the damages you can prove you incurred because of the conduct of the FL company. You could sue them for this amount in a JP court in your home town. You would have to know and serve the right person in FL. If you could do these things, you might be able to recover some of the money you lost. Or you could contact me by email for other options. Good Luck.
