Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
Vehicle purchase
I purchased a vehicle on 9/2/2008, signed a contract and was given a first payment date of 10/2/2008. I then was called today and told by the dealer that the contract had been returned because they now wanted 3100.00 down instead of the 1000.00 that I had already put down on the vehicle. am I screwed or do they have to go by the first signed contract?

Re: Vehicle purchase
That depends upon the language in the signed contract. Does it provide for a conditional acceptance based upon the finance department? If not, then you have an enforceable contract, and should report the switch/bait to DOT. Pay a lawyer a nominal sum to read the contract and advise you as to your options.
