Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
vehicle re-keying after repo
Our truck was recently repoed for late payment. We worked out a deal and came up with the money owed and got our truck back. The issue at hand is they claimed they did not have a key so replaced the ignition (rekeyed). Now we have to pay $70 to get a new transponder key. I cry foul becuase they had a key for it when we initially bought the truck. So either they lost it or they flat out lied and had the truck re-keyed out of spite. Do I have any legal recourse? Can I take them to small claims court?
Sincerely,

Re: vehicle re-keying after repo
Yes, it is foul -- but it also a fight that will be very difficult to win, and not worth the additional aggravation.
