Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas

Verbal Contract

Our neighbors asked us if we would share the cost to replace our fence which is between our property lines. We agreed to share the cost but then the neighbor hired a company to replace it without ever showing us any estimates. In fact they notified us 2 hours before the company came to replace it. It was during the week while we were at work. We never made an agreement on a cost or material used etc. They are now threatening to sue us in small claims court for 1000.00 The cost to replace one run of fence was 2050.00. Do you think that by agreeing to share cost we made a verbal contract? Had we known that our part would be so much we would have replaced the fence ourselves.

Re: Verbal Contract

You may have made a verbal contract, similar to signing a written contract leaving blanks to be filled in later.
