Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas
I went to a website on Sunday and ordered a kit from the Home Profit System. They requested I submit $2.97 which I did to receive a kit. I today, Thursday 3/18, talked to my bank and a charge for $139.95 also came through from the same website. I NEVER SAW OR AUTHORITED THEM TO MAKE THIS CHARGE!!!. I got the 877 number and called twice and the customer service guy refused to issue me a refund. I am now overdrawn on my bank account thanks to this charge.
I did not see it or need it at this time........I was just browsing so called "moneymaking" opportunities. I certainly was not wanting to throw over $100 at something I have not even had a chance to view...........AND then to say I am not entitled to my money back....PLUS THIS, I have not even seen any material from this company in Oregon. I live in Texas. WHAT TO DO TO GET MY MONEY BACK???? HELP

First, go back online and take some screen shots of the pages of the Home Profit System website.
Next, go to your bank (in person - don't use a telephone) and talk to them about this. They may be able to "reverse the charges."
If that doesn't work, get an address for Home Profit System and write to them (a paper letter - stop using the telephone) and demand a refund. Send the letter by certified mail with a return receipt requested; it will cost you about five dollars.
In the letter, tell them exactly what happened. Demand a refund. Give them a time deadline ("by April 6, 2010") and tell them you're going to sue them.
