Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

$47000 medical bill

What do you think is an acceptable amount to offer per month on a $47000 hospital bill? We could probably manage $200. We have not yet received a final bill. We are in a mess with this, we will be paying it forever. We rent our house but my wife is paying a mortgage on a house in her name that her mother lives in. Is bankruptcy our only option?

Thanks.

Re: $47000 medical bill

Do not take bankruptcy now..frequently those bills are not pursued ...Before you start paying, ask for a substantial reduction...IF you anticipate being able to pay anything..eg $200 a month for a year..but be realistic..Is the bill on yor or your wife??...or a child?
