Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

In 2008, I took out a payday loan with Check N Go. I did not pay it, and it went into collection. The other day I got a call from a collector in Florida named "Stage Group Litigation", and they said that if I don't make monthly payments with them they will send my "file" to Smith County, where I live, and that I would be prosecuted and I was just wondering what all they could do, or if they could do anything?

Go to Radio Shack TODAY and buy a telephone recording device that's appropriate for your phone. Record every telephone call from these folks.

Remember to make some kind of notation about the date and time of the phone conversation - if you don't, you'll forget later. "The preceding recorded call took place on July 14, 2010 at 1020 am."

It is illegal for a telephone bill collector to threaten prosecution for not paying a bill.

And no, it isn't a crime to not pay a debt.
