Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

18 year old utility bill

I live in Austin,Texas. I moved into an apartment in June 2006, paid my $200.00 deposit for electricity, and have never been late on my bills. I just got hit with a $450.00 bill from 18 years ago, that IF I had been

aware of, I would have included in my bankruptcy of 7 years ago. Is there

a Statute of Limitations on such a thing? I requested a written copy of their that ledger bill several weeks ago, and never received it.

I hope you have some advice for me, as I can NOT afford to pay this...I have a VERY limited income.

Thank you for your time.

Kind Regards,

Re: 18 year old utility bill

Write them a certified letter stating that you have no knowledge of this account, and that you do not owe the bill. Further, tell them that any effort at collection is barred by the statute of limitations. Good luck.
