Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

accused of lying

I co signed a car for a family member 2 years ago and up until last month they were doing fine on payments. When I was told by my family member that they could not afford the car I had just quit my job to go back to school thus behind on the note. the car was stolen last week( have police report and pictures of the scene) and now i'm in the process of getting the insur. and gap to pay the loan. the financing place is calling me in the meantime and telling me that i staged the car to be stolen to avoid payment and that it is my responsibility to THEM that I go get another job or go get unemployement/welfare so i can pay them. Is accusing me this going to affect me? I don't want anymore problems or worries.

Re: accused of lying

Visit a local lawyer..if facts are as you say, you should have no problems but financial problems are a common cause of arson, theft as here..etc..protect yourself..But all financing company can do is get a judgment..and try to collect then you may claim unfair collection practice
